What is my Therapeutic Approach?

When you step into therapy with me, you won’t find judgment, blame, or finger-pointing.

I believe that when people or relationships are hurting, it’s not because someone is “the problem” — it’s because certain patterns have taken hold over time, often without anyone even realizing it. My work isn’t about finding fault; it’s about getting curious together about what’s happening beneath the surface and how we can create meaningful change.

Rather than focusing on diagnoses, I prefer to pay attention to the “symptoms” — the anxiety, sadness, conflict, disconnection, or "stuckness" that shows up when something important inside us (or between us) isn’t getting what it needs. To me, symptoms are messages — not labels — and understanding them is the first step toward healing.

A big part of how I work involves the difference between two kinds of change:

• First-order change is about small tweaks — trying to fix things without really shifting the deeper patterns. It can help in the short term, but often leaves people feeling like they’re stuck in the same old cycle. (ex: changing behaviors without addressing the reason behind the behaviors)

• Second-order change goes deeper. It’s about changing the system itself — shifting the way you relate to yourself, to each other, and to the problems you’re facing. It’s transformational change, the kind that leads to real, lasting difference.

In therapy with me, we aim for second-order change.

Not just coping better — but truly growing into new, healthier ways of living and loving.

I also work from a Systemic Relational Therapy perspective. That simply means I see you not as an isolated individual, but as part of larger systems — family, relationships, culture — that shape how you experience the world.

In systemic therapy:

• We don’t just focus on the symptoms — we look at the bigger picture they’re a part of.

• We explore how past experiences, family patterns, and relationship dynamics might still be playing a role in your present struggles.

• We focus on creating shifts in the patterns, not just in you alone — because real healing often happens in the space between us.

At the heart of it, I believe that you are more than your struggles — and that change is absolutely possible.

In our work together, you’ll have a supportive, collaborative space to slow down, get curious, and start creating the deeper shifts you’re longing for — at a pace and rhythm that feels right for you.
